Report: Liverpool confident of signing James Milner

Liverpool are confident that they will sign Manchester City midfielder James Milner in the summer, according to a report.

Liverpool are reportedly confident of signing England international James Milner in the summer.

The 29-year-old will be available on a free transfer if he does not agree a new contract with Manchester City.

The Premier League champions have offered Milner a fresh deal, with manager Manuel Pellegrini confident that he will remain at the Etihad.

However, Liverpool believe that a promise of regular first-team football could persuade Milner to make a switch to Anfield, according to ESPN.

Milner joined City from Aston Villa for £26m in 2010.
