Report: Newcastle United, Liverpool target Demarai Gray

Newcastle United and Liverpool are reportedly planning a move for Birmingham City winger Demarai Gray.

Newcastle United and Liverpool have reportedly both identified Birmingham City youngster Demarai Gray as a transfer target for January's window.

The 18-year-old winger has been a regular for the Championship side this season, and scored a first-half hat-trick during their 6-1 win over Reading on Saturday.

According to The Mirror, Liverpool have been tracking the England Under-19s player for some time, but the Magpies are now also interested after taking advice on Gray from former midfielder and Birmingham manager Lee Clark, who is now in charge at Blackpool.

The report adds that Newcastle sent scouts to yesterday's match at St Andrew's to see Gray score three goals in the space of 35 minutes.
