Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers wants to offer captain Steven Gerrard a new contract that will see him play out his career at Anfield.
The former Swansea City boss feels that his skipper has earned a new deal by proving his fitness this season, playing in every single one of the Reds' Premier League games.
Rodgers told reporters: "Steven has a year left and that is something he and I are about to discuss.
"Then, I will take things through to the board upstairs. There is no doubt that Steven is a player who has given so much to the club – but he has also got a lot more to give."
Gerrard has made 40 appearances this season for the Reds in all competitions, scoring five goals.
