Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah is reportedly 'desperate' to remain at the Reds next season, with the 32-year-old entering the final year of his current contract.

Liverpool's Mohamed Salah has reportedly decided that he wants to remain at Anfield past the conclusion of the 2024-25 season.

The 32-year-old has enjoyed stellar start to the fresh campaign, with the Reds now under the tutelage of Arne Slot following the departure of legendary head coach Jurgen Klopp in May.

Salah has bagged three goals and provided three assists in three Premier League matches at the beginning of the term, shining in the Dutchman's XI.

For seventh straight game at Manchester United's Theatre of Dreams, the Egyptian found the net on Sunday afternoon, when the visiting Reds secured a 3-0 win over their arch rivals.

Since making the permanent switch from Italian outfit Roma to Anfield during the summer of 2017, Salah has made 352 appearances for Liverpool, scoring on 214 occasions.

Salah 'desperate' to avoid Saudi Arabia obscurity

According to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool star Salah is only thinking about extending his stay on Merseyside into a ninth year as the Slot era begins at Anfield.

The report states that the 32-year-old is desperate to sign new terms at the Reds, who currently sit second in the Premier League standings, behind Manchester City on goal difference.

It is understood that Salah is keen to avoid falling into obscurity in Saudi Arabia, a fate arguably suffered by his former Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane.

The Senegal international's 'declining reputation' since making the switch from Bayern Munich to Al-Nassr is supposedly warding off Liverpool's key attacker from a transfer to the Middle East.

Mane netted 13 goals in 32 Saudi Pro League appearances during his maiden term in the country, living in the shadow of Cristiano Ronaldo in Luis Castro's squad.

Salah's contract situation

It is no secret that Salah has now entered the final year of his current terms at Anfield, with the attacker set to leave as a free agent next summer.

Despite the Egyptian's reported desires to stay at the Reds, it is believed that talks over a new deal for the Liverpool legend are yet to be ignited.

After being assisted twice by the 32-year-old at Old Trafford on the weekend, Luis Diaz has openly urged Salah to stay put at the club past the expiration of his current contract.

The former Chelsea man is not the only first-team star who could be departing in 2025, with Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold also in the final 12 months of their respective deals.
