Sunderland are reportedly considering amending their offer for Liverpool striker Fabio Borini to take him on loan for the season, rather than sign him on a permanent deal.
The Black Cats agreed a £14m deal with the Reds for the 23-year-old, but the move has stalled as the Italian wants to fight for his career at Anfield.
Borini sustained an injury during Liverpool's pre-season defeat to Roma and has travelled back to England for treatment on his shoulder.
The Express reports that his return to the country has left Sunderland mulling another loan deal for the striker, who scored 10 goals in all competitions in his spell at the Stadium of Light last season.
Sunderland added their fourth player this summer when they signed Patrick van Aanholt on Friday.
