AC Milan could reportedly target a move for Roma striker Tammy Abraham if a transfer for Bologna's Joshua Zirkzee fails to materialise.
The Rossoneri have been battling Arsenal and Manchester United for the right to sign Zirkzee and were believed to have been leading the chase at one point, even agreeing personal terms with the Dutchman.
However, Milan are yet to trigger Zirkzee's €40m (£33.9m) release clause, and there are suggestions that Man United may be better placed to do so, forcing the Rossoneri to look elsewhere.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan's search for alternatives could lead them to Roma and Abraham, who only managed 12 appearances for the Giallorossi last season due to injury.
As Abraham only has two years left on his contract, Roma's arm could supposedly be twisted by an offer between €20m (£16.9m) and €25m (£21.2m), and the 26-year-old could arrive alongside Chelsea's Romelu Lukaku.
However, Aston Villa and West Ham United could compete with Milan to sign Abraham, who has struck 37 goals and set up 13 more in 119 appearances for Roma in all competitions.

Sticking with the Serie A theme, Juventus have reportedly joined a long list of clubs monitoring the situation of Atalanta BC winger Ademola Lookman.
The 26-year-old has been an unexpected success story in Italy following spells at Fulham, RB Leipzig and Everton and bagged a historic hat-trick in his side's Europa League final success over Bayer Leverkusen last month.
Lookman's terrific treble saw him end the season with 17 goals and 10 assists from 45 appearances across all competitions, but he is only under contract at Atalanta for another two seasons.
Liverpool and Bayern Munich are believed to be among the teams interested, but according to the Daily Mail, Juventus have also thrown their hat into the ring.
From Lookman's side, the former Premier League attacker is still believed to be happy at his current location, but he is not ruling anything out ahead of his pre-season return.
The Nigeria international has had a direct hand in 50 goals from 78 appearances for Gian Piero Gasperini's side since the summer of 2022, scoring 32 of his own and setting up 18 more.

From a potential future Liverpool player to a former one, and Besiktas' Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is supposedly one of several players to have been put up for sale by the Turkish side.
The 30-year-old hopped to the other side of the continent last summer after leaving Liverpool as a free agent and ended his debut season with four goals and one assist from 30 matches.
However, Oxlade-Chamberlain's injury problems plagued him once more, as he spent a few months out with a torn thigh muscle and was restricted to just 11 starts in the Turkish Super Lig.
While Oxlade-Chamberlain's deal still has two years left to run, journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu claims that the ex-Arsenal product is among a host of players on Besiktas chopping block.
Other recognisable names such as Jean Onana, Vincent Aboubakar, Arthur Masuaka, Daniel Amartey and Ante Rebic could leave alongside Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has been tipped for a return to the Premier League.
The midfielder contributed 20 goals and 24 assists from 235 matches in the top flight during his time with Arsenal and Liverpool, winning the 2019-20 edition with the latter.

Finally, two newly-promoted Premier League clubs are reported to be battling for the services of Slovenia's Euro 2024 star Timi Elsnik.
The 26-year-old - who represents NK Olimpija Ljubljana in his homeland - has started every game for his nation at the current championships, where Matjaz Kek's side achieved Slovenia's first-ever qualification for a major tournament knockout place.
Elsnik provided the assist for Zan Karnicnik's goal in their 1-1 draw with Serbia in Group C and also shone domestically in 2023-24, coming up with 10 goals and six assists in 46 matches.
According to the Daily Mail, both Southampton and Leicester City - who could lose Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to Chelsea - have both taken a liking to Elsnik thanks to his Euro 2024 displays.
NK Olimpija would apparently accept just £5.5m to sell Elsnik, although the Premier League duo are facing intense competition from Italian giants Lazio and Ligue 1 powerhouses Lyon.
Elsnik previously spent four years in England with Derby County from 2015 to 2019, but he played just three times for the senior team and was also loaned out to Swindon Town, Northampton Town and Mansfield Town.
