Gary Holt's nine-year-old son Zak goes to school in Kilmarnock.

Livingston manager Gary Holt has been implored by his youngest son to lead his team to victory over Kilmarnock on Saturday to save him from a playground ribbing.

Former Killie midfielder Holt lives in the Ayrshire town and he got a reminder of the affect his job has on his family when son Zak revealed what was at stake.

The game takes place to the backdrop of Killie manager Steve Clarke speaking out about the sectarian abuse he received at the hands of Rangers fans during a 5-0 defeat at Ibrox on Wednesday, but Holt knows it is not just managers who can feel the heat.

Holt said: "When the result went the way it went and everything that happened, I think emotions were really raw with Steve and he probably opened up more than he has ever done since he's been up here.

"I think it's highlighted a lot of problems and hopefully opened people's eyes to what does go on and what people get thrown at them.

"It's only this week that I realised again that my job impacts people in my family, in a negative way, when things aren't going well.

"I live in Kilmarnock, my sons go to school in Kilmarnock. My nine-year-old son asked me to make sure, if it's the only game you win between now and the end of the season, make sure this is the game so I don't get stick at school.

"I said: 'What do you mean?' and he said: 'So all the boys don't take the mickey out me'. It's not nasty abuse, it's not even abuse, it's just some of his wee pals winding him up because of who I am.

"I don't see that, I think it's all nice and it's football and win, lose or draw you move on on Monday.

"But he said to me to tell the boys they really need to win on Saturday because I don't want to get the mickey taking out me at school.

"I tried to tell him he can't go in and say 'Livi's better than Kilmarnock' if we get three points. He understands that because he is involved in football to an extent. He knows he can't go in all big-headed.

"But you forget the stick other people in your family get."
