Cameroon legend Samuel Eto'o has been invited to the Olympic Games as an ambassador by the country's Ministry of Sport.
The former captain of the Indomitable Lions will receive the invitation in a move that is hoped will boost morale for the athletes competing at London 2012.
Eto'o is nearing the end of an eight-month suspension from the national side for a breach of discipline.
The west African nation failed to qualify for the men's football tournament in London.
The 31-year-old was part of the proudest moment in Cameroon's Olympic history when his team won gold in the men's football at Sydney 2000.
