Rennes have remained fourth in Ligue 1 with a last-gasp 2-2 draw with Lorient away from home.
The visitors had the better chances in the opening quarter of the game, as Romain Alessandrini and Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik both tested Benjamin Lecomte.
Lorient then came into the contest and made the breakthrough just after the half-hour mark when Yann Jouffre fired in from the centre of the penalty box.
Mevlut Erding restored parity for Rennes 10 minutes into the second half with a left-footed shot from the left side of the box.
Lorient pressed on for the winner and thought that they had earned it 10 minutes from time when set up by Wesley Lautoa, Jeremie Aliadiere shot home from outside the box.
However, Axel N'Gando dampened their hopes as he turned in Alou Diarra's headed pass from inside the box.
The result means that Rennes stay fourth in the table with 37 points from 23 matches, while Lorient are seventh.
