Lyon up to third after Marseille win

Lyon move to third in Ligue 1 thanks to Yoann Gourcuff's second-half winner against Marseille.

Lyon moved up to third in Ligue 1 courtesy of a 1-0 win over Marseille at Stade Gerland this evening.

Yoann Gourcuff gave the home side the lead on 65 minutes when he fired home after good work from Alexandre Lacazette in the build-up.

In the first half, Andre Ayew went close for Marseille on 25 minutes moments after Florian Thauvin's effort flew just wide.

After the break Dimitri Payet teed up Andre-Pierre Gignac, but the Frenchman's effort was well saved by Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes.

Nicolas N'Koulou spurned a great chance to level things up for the visitors when he headed wide from Payet's delivery.
