Cristiano Ronaldo and Gonzalo Higuain score two goals each as Real Madrid thump Mallorca 5-0 at the Iberostar Stadium.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Gonzalo Higuain scored two goals each as Real Madrid recorded a comfortable 5-0 win at Mallorca on Sunday night.

The victory has moved Jose Mourinho's side up to fourth place in the La Liga table, eight points behind leaders Barcelona.

Los Blancos took the lead after just eight minutes as Higuain let fly into the top corner from the edge of the box.

It was 2-0 midway through the first half when Ronaldo was picked out by Mesut Ozil before finding the bottom corner with a controlled finish.

Ronaldo nearly added to his side's tally before the break, but he flashed his powerful effort over the bar.

Madrid continued their dominance after half time and were rewarded on 70 minutes thanks to Higuain's seventh goal of the season.

Ronaldo got his second of the match minutes later when he used his pace before slotting past the hapless Dudu Aouate.

The rout was completed in injury time through substitute Jose Callejon's tap in from Ozil's pass.
