David Silva: 'Players must accept blame for Champions League exit'

David Silva says that Manchester City cannot blame Roberto Mancini for the club's exit from the Champions League.

David Silva has said that the players are responsible for Manchester City's exit from the Champions League.

The Premier League champions were knocked out in the group stages for the second consecutive year.

The Spaniard told Sky Sports News: "We're responsible for what has happened. The way we played in the Champions League, we all have to take the blame for that.

"It didn't start well in the Champions League and it became an uphill task. But you can't just blame the manager.

"All I would say is that since I joined City up to now we have made progress with Roberto [Mancini]."

It was reported this week that Mancini has been told to close the gap to Manchester United at the top of the Premier League in order to keep his job.
