Sports Mole previews Wednesday's Champions League Group D clash between Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City welcome German champions Borussia Dortmund to the Etihad on Wednesday in their Champions League Group D encounter.

City, who failed to advance past the group stages last season, lost their first match of the campaign away to Real Madrid despite twice taking the lead. They have also make a slow start to their domestic season, winning just one of their last three matches.

Dortmund, meanwhile, have made a solid start to their title defence in the Bundesliga and enter the match fresh off the back of a 5-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach at the weekend. They also won on matchday one of the Champions League, overcoming Ajax 1-0 in Germany.

Dortmund lost all three of their Champions League away matches last season, while City are undefeated in 17 matches on their own patch.

City will definitely be without Maicon and Micah Richards for the encounter, but Matija Nastasic and Gael Clichy are expected to come back into the side. Meanwhile, Dortmund have no injury worries and will continue with Robert Lewandowski in attack.

Recent form:

Manchester City: DLDLW
Borussia Dortmund: WWLDW

Possible lineups:

Manchester City: Hart; Zabaleta, Kompany, Nastasic, Clichy; Garcia, Barry; Silva, Toure, Aguero; Tevez

Borussia Dortmund: Weidenfeller; Piszczek, Subotic, Hummels, Schmelzer; Kehl, Gundogan; Blaszczykowski, Gotze, Reus; Lewandowski

Sports Mole says: 2-1
