CSKA Moscow fight back to earn draw with Manchester City

Manchester City squander a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 away to Group E rivals CSKA Moscow in the Champions League.

Manchester City's chances of reaching the last 16 of the Champions League have been dealt another blow after they let a two-goal lead slip to draw 2-2 away to Group E rivals CSKA Moscow.

Manuel Pellegrini's side remain without a win in this season's competition, taking just two points from a possible nine.

The hosts threatened during the opening stages as Ahmed Musa and Zoran Tosic both fired off target with efforts from outside of the box.

However, it was City took the lead on 29 minutes when Sergio Aguero tapped in from Edin Dzeko's pass after the Bosnian had broken clear of the CSKA defence.

Things got even better for the Premier League champions with just seven minutes left in the first half as an incisive attacking move ended with James Milner sliding the ball home from an Aguero cross.

Milner almost found the net for a second time just moments later, but the midfielder's shot came back off the woodwork.

CSKA started the second half positively and they pulled a goal back with 65 minutes played when Seydou Doumbia bundled in Musa's cross from close range.

The Russians threatened again soon after as Sergei Ignashevich connected with Bibras Natkho's free kick, though Joe Hart was able to make the save before Roman Eremenko's dangerous cross evaded a busy penalty area.

The visitors were put under increasing pressure as the match edged towards the final whistle, and they were pegged back five minutes from time when Natkho scored from the penalty spot after Aleksandar Kolarov was judged to have brought down Musa.
