Manchester City team news: Injury, suspension list vs. West Ham United

Sports Mole rounds up Manchester City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's Premier League opener with West Ham United.

Manchester City head into their Premier League opener with West Ham United on Saturday afternoon having already secured a piece of silverware.

The top-flight champions withstood a Liverpool fightback to claim the Community Shield in a penalty shootout at Wembley Stadium.

However, appearing in an extra fixture came at a cost to Pep Guardiola as one of his key men left the pitch during the early stages due to injury.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up their latest injury and suspension news ahead of City's trip to the London Stadium.

Benjamin Mendy

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Despite a rest over the summer, Mendy continues to struggle with a knee injury. Guardiola has suggested that the left-back may train at some point this week, although the Frenchman is not in contention to feature on Saturday.

Fernandinho

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: August 10 (vs. West Ham)

While he continues to make progress ahead of a return from a knee injury, Fernandinho is unlikely to feature against the Hammers. At best, the veteran midfielder may make an appearance off the bench during the closing stages.

Leroy Sane

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

There were major concerns regarding Sane when he went down clutching his knee during the Community Shield, and City have now confirmed that the winger will miss at least six months of action due to an ACL injury.

Aymeric Laporte

Status: Slight doubt
Type of injury: Knock
Possible return date: August 10 (vs. West Ham)

Laporte picked up a knock during the latter part of pre-season, which resulted in Guardiola taking no risks on the centre-back on Sunday. However, the Frenchman is expected to be back in contention for City's trip to England's capital.

MAN CITY'S SUSPENSION LIST

Man City have no players suspended for this match.
