Manchester City team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Shakhtar Donetsk

Sports Mole rounds up Manchester City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Tuesday's Champions League showdown with Shakhtar Donetsk.

Manchester City will be looking to secure their place in the last 16 of the Champions League on Tuesday night when they welcome Shakhtar Donetsk to the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola's men got back to winning ways on Saturday as they came from behind to beat Chelsea 2-1.

Shakhtar, meanwhile, secured a 4-1 win over FC Lviv on Friday night, with Junior Moraes scoring a hat-trick and Alan Patrick adding a fourth late on.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Tuesday's contest.

Leroy Sane

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: January 18 (vs. Crystal Palace)

Sane is expected to be out until late January with the knee injury he picked up during August's Community Shield, but he is thought to be recovering well.

Aymeric Laporte

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

City have struggled in the absence of the big French centre-back, who has been out since undergoing complex knee surgery in September. It is not yet known when he will be ready for a first team return.

Oleksandr Zinchenko

Possible return date: December 7 (vs. Manchester United)

Ukraine international Zinchenko is expected to return for the Manchester derby in early December after having a small knee operation at the end of October.

David Silva

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: November 26 (vs. Shakhtar Donetsk)

Influential midfielder Silva went off during City's game with Chelsea on Saturday with what appeared to be a cramping issue. While he is expected to be fit enough to feature on Tuesday, Guardiola may opt to rest the experienced midfielder.

Rodri

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: November 26 (vs. Shakhtar Donetsk)

Rodri appeared to go off with a similar problem to Silva on Saturday, although he is probably a little more likely to start against Shakhtar in the heart of the City midfield.

Sergio Aguero

Aguero was also substituted against Chelsea with what has been described as a muscular issue. It is highly unlikely that the Argentine will feature on Tuesday night, with Gabriel Jesus expected to deputise in his absence.
