George McCartney disappointed with Manchester City result

West Ham United's George McCartney was left disappointed with his side's performance against Manchester City.

West Ham United defender George McCartney has admitted that the 6-0 thrashing against Manchester City in the League Cup on Wednesday night was hugely disappointing.

McCartney said that although the Hammers were not nearly good enough on the night, the finishing from the City players was world class.

"It's just a disappointment all around," he told the club's official website. "It's the semi-final of the Cup and as much we tried to put the effort in, we just weren't good enough.

"Throughout the first part of the season, when you look at their home results, they've scored a lot of goals against Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Norwich City. It's not as if it's the first time they've scored six goals at home. They're a very good team with great players and we found it very difficult on Wednesday.

"We certainly didn't play anywhere near as well as we can, but take nothing away from Man City, they were really good. Their finishing was exceptional."

The Hammers are currently 19th in the Premier League.
