The family member of Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy who was admitted to hospital last week has reportedly tested negative for coronavirus.
City revealed on Thursday that one of their senior players was currently self-isolating after a close member of his family was taken ill with symptoms of the respiratory illness.
The Premier League champions did not actually name the individual but widespread reports claimed that Mendy was the player in question.
According to L'Equipe, the family member tested negative for coronavirus and therefore Mendy will be free to return to training with the Citizens once they decide to lift their suspension.
As it stands, Pep Guardiola's side are due to return to action at home to Liverpool on April 5, although there are fears that the remainder of the season might have to be called off due to the outbreak of the virus.
The Citizens had been due to welcome Burnley to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
