Gael Clichy insists that Manchester City must start the new season strongly in order to push for the Premier League title.

Manchester City defender Gael Clichy has insisted that the club must get off to winning ways at the beginning of next season.

The North West outfit relinquished the Premier League title to their arch rivals Manchester United in 2012-13, which Clichy has put down to a 'sloppy' start.

"This season was really hard but I can feel something coming right for us," the Manchester Evening News quotes Clichy as saying.

"We can't get worse than this year because we haven't won anything, but I really have a nice feeling for next season.

"We have to start well and see if we can have a perfect season. It's like anything, if you start well, you have a really good chance of doing something. This season we started sloppily and finished sloppily."

While City's manager has still not been confirmed, it is believed that Jesus Navas will be the club's first summer signing after they agreed a fee with Sevilla.
