Kevin De Bruyne: 'Yaya Toure one of the original Manchester City revolutionaries'

Kevin De Bruyne has paid tribute to departing Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure as one of the club's original revolutionaries.

The Ivory Coast international will leave the Etihad Stadium at the end of the season following eight illustrious years with the club.

With three Premier League titles, two EFL Cups and the 2011 FA Cup, when he scored the only goal in both the semi-final and the final, Toure's place in Man City's annals is confirmed.

"I guess he was one of the players where the revolution started," De Bruyne told the Manchester Evening News.

"He has had a lot of great games and won so many things here and he deserves a big farewell game from everybody.

"When I came here he was a big part – even this year when he didn't play so often he has been a big part of it and a massive player. The way he has performed his entire career is impressive."

Toure is expected to make his first league start of the season and wear the captain's armband in Man City's final home game of the campaign, against Brighton & Hove Albion.
