Fernandinho focused on Manchester City Premier League title challenge

Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho insists that all his focus is currently on helping the club win the Premier League title ahead of this summer's World Cup.

Fernandinho has insisted that he is fully focused on helping Manchester City win the Premier League, rather than looking ahead to this summer's World Cup.

The Citizens midfielder, who joined the club from Shakhtar Donetsk last year, has played a vital part in City's push for the title.

A point against West Ham United on Sunday will almost certainly be enough for Manuel Pellegrini's men to win the league, while the 29-year-old has also been named in Brazil's squad for the World Cup.

"Playing in the World Cup is a big thing for me, but I cannot start thinking about it until after Sunday," he's quoted as saying by The Mirror. "That's when I may start to feel emotional about it.

"Maybe on Sunday night or Monday will be the time for me to celebrate my call up and the league title. For now I need to be calm and concentrate on Sunday's game. After that I can do anything.

"It is going to be great playing in the World Cup, and it will be even better because it is in Brazil. This could be the best summer for me and one I will always remember."

Fernandinho has featured 45 times for City this season in all competitions.
