Ilkay Gundogan has described his debut for Manchester City as "perfect" after spending four months on the sidelines with injury.
The midfielder, who signed for the club from Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window, played 80 minutes of the team's 4-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach in their Champions League Group C match.
"I'm very happy, it's a perfect day for me," Gundogan told BT Sport. "I was waiting for this moment for a long time and it was good. I tried to work hard and will now look forward to the next game.
"It's not easy after such a long time. Four months of rehabilitation is always hard. When you don't have the opportunity to have a friendly game to use, to come into the game I started from zero and I think it went very well. I'm very happy."
Gundogan could make his second appearance for City in this weekend's Premier League match against Bournemouth.
