Stevan Jovetic has returned to Manchester City with a hamstring complaint.
The 24-year-old suffered the injury while on international duty with Montenegro.
He will now undergo a series of examinations with City's medical staff, but the striker has been rated as a doubt for Saturday's Premier League encounter against Arsenal.
"Yes, Stevan Jovetic has a hamstring injury and had returned to City. He can't play today [against Moldova]. All I know is that he is unavailable for this game. He suffered the problem in training on Sunday, trying to catch a faster ball," Montenegro's press officer Ivan Radovic told The Guardian.
Should Jovetic miss the clash with the Gunners, City manager Manuel Pellegrini will have just Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko to select from as his centre-forward options following the decision to let Alvaro Negredo join Valencia on loan last month.
