Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has said that the club could still cope should the injury to Sergio Aguero be worse than first thought.
Aguero himself played down fears over the injury and his captain has said that either way the club will get through.
"We lost Sergio, which was sort of a blow, but I just go back to when we lost Carlos [Tevez] for most of the season and coped well with that," The Guardian quotes Kompany as saying.
"I hope Sergio won't be out for that long but I would point to last season where we had to cope with these kind of issues and we did it very well. If we have to, I'm sure we will again."
City came from behind to beat Southampton 3-2 in their season opener.
