Vincent Kompany targets Liverpool win

Vincent Kompany says that Manchesrer City are now focusing on the trip to Liverpool next weekend in what he feels is an "important week" in the Premier League.

Vincent Kompany has said that Manchester City are now focusing on the trip to Liverpool next weekend in what he feels is an "important week" in the Premier League.

City beat Southampton 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium this afternoon to move one point behind the Reds in the table ahead of the crunch match at Anfield next Sunday.

Speaking to reporters after the win over the Saints, Kompany said: "We knew it was going to be a big game and a difficult one so we can take a lot of positives and confidence from it.

"The next game will be Liverpool and we have got eight days to focus on that. It is going to be an important week. It is a big game but we have played those before."

Yaya Toure, Samir Nasri and Edin Dzeko helped the Citizens into a 3-1 half-time lead, with Rickie Lambert scoring for the visitors.

Stevan Jovetic was on hand in the final nine minutes to cap a comfortable win for Manuel Pellegrini's men.
