Manchester City will have the opportunity to break a club record when Pep Guardiola reaches a significant milestone in Sunday's Premier League clash with Leicester City.

Manchester City will have the chance to set a new club record when they travel to the King Power Stadium for Sunday's Premier League clash with Leicester City.

City's dismal run of form continued with an underwhelming 1-1 draw in their home meeting with Everton on Boxing Day.

Bernardo Silva saw his opener cancelled out by Iliman Ndiaye, before Erling Haaland had his penalty saved by Jordan Pickford, as Man City's winless run stretched to five competitive matches.

The reigning Premier League champions have now won just one of their previous nine games in the top flight (D2, L6), representing a significant contrast to a team that began the campaign with seven wins in nine league matches.

Man City will enter the final game of 2024 in seventh position with 28 points from 18 matches, leaving them six points adrift of the top four and 14 points away from leaders Liverpool.

Man City looking to set club record against Leicester

While they may be experiencing a difficult period, Man City still have the chance to set a new record in Sunday's fixture after winning their previous four away league games against Leicester without conceding.

As a result, they now have the opportunity to record five consecutive away victories against the same opponent without conceding for the first time in their entire league history.

However, that may be easier said than done, especially as Man City have taken just one point from five away league games since they beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 on October 20.

They have also failed to keep a clean sheet in each of their previous eight top-flight away games since they recorded a shutout in their Premier League opener against Chelsea.

Guardiola's 500-game landmark

Sunday's fixture represents a significant milestone for Guardiola, who will take charge of his 500th game as Man City manager when his team take on Leicester at the King Power Stadium.

Guardiola has won 361, drawn 63 and lost 75 of his 499 games as Man City boss after taking over the reins in the summer of 2016.

The Catalan coach will become the second Man City manager to reach the landmark after Les McDowall oversaw 592 games between 1950 and 1963.

Guardiola managed to win his 100th, 200th and 300th game in charge of the Citizens, while his side drew 1-1 in his 400th match against Bayern Munich in April 2023.

The 53-year-old also boasts an impressive record against Leicester, having overseen 13 wins and four defeats in 17 competitive meetings with the Foxes.

Man City have won their last four head-to-head matches since they lost 1-0 in the Community Shield in August 2021.
