Manchester City have reportedly tabled a £16m bid for Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini.
The Italian champions have turned down the bid, but City boss Roberto Mancini is expected to come back with a revised offer, the Daily Mail understands.
Chiellini, who is part of Italy's Euro 2012 squad, has played more than 200 games for Juventus since joining the Turin giants from Fiorentina in 2005.
Mancini is targeting victory in next season's Champions League, and is planning to strengthen his squad over the summer in a bid to achieve that goal.
However, Man City are also expected to offload several players, with Aleksandar Kolarov and Nigel De Jong recently linked with moves to Inter Milan.
