Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini will reportedly be offered a new contract at the club even if he fails to deliver a trophy this season.

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is set to undergo contract talks with the club's owners at the end of the season, according to the Sunday Express.

City have won just one of their last four Premier League games, handing local rivals United the initiative in the title race and leading to speculation over Mancini's future, with reports suggesting that Jose Mourinho was being lined up as his replacement.

However, the latest rumours point towards the Italian being offered a new, lucrative contract worth a reported £5m a year, even if he fails to deliver a trophy to the Etihad Stadium this season.

Mancini's current contract runs out in 2013, with any new offer expected to be a one year extension.

City currently sit second in the league table, two points behind United, who also have a game in hand.
