Alan Pardew upbeat despite City defeat

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew insists that his side are still upbeat despite losing their unbeaten league record.

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has said that he remains upbeat despite his side losing their unbeaten league record at the hands of Manchester City yesterday.

Goals from Mario Balotelli, Micah Richards and Sergio Aguero earned City a 3-1 win at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, a result which leaves the Premier League leaders as the only undefeated team in the division.

Despite the defeat, Pardew has insisted that the team have no fears going into their game against Manchester United next week.

"I have no fear going to Manchester United after seeing that," said Pardew.

"We are still in a great position and we will have some key players back in Tiote and Obertan. That will help."

After an impressive start to the season, Newcastle currently sit third in the table with 25 points from 12 games.
