Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini believes that his side secured an "important" win over Fulham at Craven Cottage.
The Citizens took a 2-0 lead but the Rene Meulensteen's side fought back in the second half to 2-2 with the aid of a bizarre own goal from Vincent Kompany.
However, Pellegrini's side managed to regain the lead through Jesus Navas and James Milner sealed the three points late on.
He told BBC Sport: "The Premier League games are always close, especially when home teams are in bad positions in the table as they try to win points at home. We knew it would be difficult.
"Before they scored for 2-1, we had three or four chances to score and when you miss so many chances the other team often scores. We had some bad luck for their second goal, it was unbelievable, but it was important for us to recover."
City are second in the Premier League following their win over the Cottagers.
