Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola reportedly agrees to a new two-year deal with the Premier League champions until 2025.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has agreed a new two-year deal at the Etihad Stadium, according to a report.

The 51-year-old has now been at the helm in Manchester for six years since arriving from Bayern Munich in 2016, and he has led the Citizens to a myriad of trophies in that time.

City have won the Premier League in four of the last five seasons under Guardiola, as well as picking up four EFL Cups, one FA Cup and two Community Shield crowns.

Guardiola is yet to lead Man City to Champions League glory - losing to Chelsea in the 2020-21 final - and his current deal is due to expire at the end of the season.

However, The Athletic claims that the Catalan coach is now set to put pen to paper on a new two-year extension, which will keep him on the books until the summer of 2025.

The report adds that the deal - which should be announced imminently - will only be a firm one-year contract at first, and both club and manager can choose to extend it for a longer period should they wish.

On the other hand, both parties would also have the power to end the agreement earlier, and Guardiola has been expected to open talks over a new deal during the World Cup break.

When quizzed on his long-term future earlier this month, Guardiola hinted that he would be prepared to sign a new deal at the Etihad after finding "stability" that he does not believe would be present at another club.

"(Would I) stay in another place for seven years? No, I don't think so. It is difficult to find what I have here as a manager," Guardiola told the press.

"To be a manager for a long time you need to be so supported. The results help a lot, that is undeniable. In this world they sack you, they fire you, we know that.

"But, at big clubs, part of the success of the manager is the chairman, the sporting director especially, the CEOs and all the people here. It goes to the media, fans and players. There is stability. This is why I think only in few clubs this can happen."

Guardiola has now taken charge of 374 matches for Man City in all tournaments, recording 276 wins, 43 draws and 55 defeats with the Sky Blues.

The Catalan coach previously won two Champions League crowns with Barcelona and was named the World's Best Club Coach in 2008 and 2010 after breaking onto the scene at Camp Nou.

This term, Man City have fallen five points behind Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table after a 2-1 loss to Brentford before the World Cup break, but they have qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League and will face RB Leipzig next spring.

Man City will return to action against Liverpool in the fourth round of the EFL Cup on December 22 before meeting Leeds United in the Premier League on December 28 following the World Cup.
