Mauricio Pochettino: 'It was a important point'

Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino says that he is proud of his players following their draw with Manchester City.

Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino has declared that he is proud of his team following their 1-1 draw with Manchester City.

The Saints boss hailed the result as an "important point", but insisted that his side could have taken more from the game.

"It was a very important point today, to end the bad results we've been on. We've been up against it quite a bit with injuries. Psychologically today, to end with a result, was amazing for us," BBC Sport quotes him as saying.

"I'm always proud of my team. Despite the bad run of results we've been in, some of the results have been undeserved.

"A draw today was well deserved and we're a little bit sad too because we could have won."

Sergio Aguero had given City an early lead, but Southampton salvaged a point courtesy of a strike from Pablo Osvaldo shortly before half time.
