Karl-Heinz Rummenigge: 'Pep Guardiola would not leave Bayern Munich for Manchester City'

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge believes that Pep Guardiola would not leave Bayern Munich for Manchester City.

Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has claimed that Pep Guardiola would not leave the German side for Manchester City.

The Spanish coach has been linked with the manager's job at Etihad Stadium, with City widely expected to part ways with current boss Manuel Pellegrini at the end of the season.

It has been reported that City director Txiki Begiristain, who previously worked with Guardiola at Barcelona, has already held talks with his former colleague about relocating to Manchester, but Rummenigge says that he is unconcerned by the speculation.

"I don't worry about the rumour," he told Bild. "It's just proof of his quality. But I can't imagine that Guardiola leaves for a club like Manchester City. I am sure that he will be team manager at Bayern at least until June 30, 2016.

"We are very proud that this coach is our man. He is the best and most sought-after coach in the world. He has satisfied all our expectations.

"We have an plan: We will bring this season to an end and then talk in the second half of 2015. Our goal is to extend his contract. And I think we have good chances that he will still be our coach beyond 2016."

Guardiola won the Bundesliga title and German Cup last season in his first campaign as Bayern boss.
