David Platt admits that David Silva and Mario Balotelli may not be match-fit for the start of the 2012-13 Premier League season.

Man City coach Platt said that the pair have only just returned to pre-season traning following their busy Euro 2012 schedules.

Neither player has been involved in City's pre-season friendlies and they are expected to be given extra time to build up their fitness.

"They are behind the other lads due to a short pre-season," said Platt.

"We don't know if they will be ready to start games."

Man City will face Chelsea in the Community Shield final on Sunday.
