Yaya Toure determined to keep Manchester City at the top

Yaya Toure believes that Manchester City are on course to dominate European football as they edge nearer to claiming their first title in 44 years.

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure believes that the North West club can become a driving force in European football.

The blue half of Manchester are one win away from clinching their first Premier League title in 44 years following a 2-0 victory over Newcastle United at the Sports Direct Arena yesterday.

"Always I have said this club can go far, this club can win something," Toure told city.tv. "[City chairman] Khaldoon [Al Mubarak] and Mansour are doing incredibly well.

"They have signed big players and they want to make this club a great club, one of the best clubs in Europe, and they are going the right way.

"I have always said I came to this club to make history even if some people said I came for different things. I am keeping going to tell them I came to this club to make history, and that is my first objective, to help make the club into a successful football club."

Despite an eight-goal advantage in the table, City's arch rivals Manchester United are still in contention to retain the title as they prepare to take on Sunderland in their final fixture of the season on Sunday.
