Pablo Zabaleta has backed Carlos Tevez to return to his best form for Manchester City this season as they defend their Premier League title.

Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta has given his countryman Carlos Tevez his full support as he prepares for the new season.

Tevez missed nearly six months of last season after a row with City manager Roberto Mancini, but Zabaleta thinks Tevez will shine this campaign.

Zabaleta told Sky Sports News: "We are all trying to forget what happened last season, and Carlos has been fantastic in training. He's been prepared to work hard for the team and with his attitude and effort, that's good for us.

"We know how important he can be and the way he is playing he'll help us to more success. It's good for me and Sergio Aguero too - the Three Amigos. I really enjoy having them both here, it's great."

Tevez will hope to start in City's Premier League opener against Southampton on August 19.
