Stoke City draw with Manchester City

Stoke City waste chances as they draw with Manchester City in the Premier League on Saturday.

Stoke City have earned a point against Manchester City but wasted several chances to pick up a win in their Premier League.

City manager Manuel Pellegrini started with debutant Stevan Jovetic and Alvaro Negredo in attack, but his side created very few opportunities despite enjoying more possession.

Stoke had a great chance to take the lead when Steven N'Zonzi found himself in space only to shoot straight at Joe Hart.

Hart was called into action again minutes later when Kenwyne Jones was one-on-one after nicking the ball from Samir Nasri, but he hit his effort too close to the England international.

Jonathan Walters also spurned two chances as Stoke went in search of a third win in four games.

Potters' manager Mark Hughes introduced new signing Marko Arnautovic in the second half and the Austrian almost had an instant impact as he hooked the ball into the penalty area with Matija Nastasic nearly diverted the ball into his own net.

Stoke had an injury scare when defender Robert Huth was accidentally caught in the face by Negredo but, after treatment, he was fit to continue.

The result means that Man City have dropped five points in their first four games, although they are still two points behind the top sides in the league.
