Team News: Leroy Sane in for Gabriel Jesus

Leroy Sane partners Sergio Aguero up front as Manchester City welcome Crystal Palace.

Leroy Sane will partner Sergio Aguero up front as Manchester City welcome Premier League strugglers Crystal Palace to the Etihad this afternoon.

Gabriel Jesus has found the net four times in the first five Premier League games of the season but drops to the bench today as Sane is rewarded for scoring both goals in the 2-1 EFL Cup win over West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday night.

The change is the only alteration Pep Guardiola makes from the last league outing, a 6-0 demolition of Watford at Vicarage Road last weekend that saw them move top of the Premier League table.

Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva and Raheem Sterling provide support for Sane and Aguero up front, while Fernandinho sits in front of an unchanged back four of Kyle Walker, John Stones, Nicolas Otamendi and Benjamin Mendy, with Ederson in place between the sticks.

For Palace, Roy Hodgson makes three changes from the side that were defeated 1-0 by Southampton last weekend as he looks to improve upon the worst start any side has made in top-flight English football history.

Jeffrey Schlupp is normally deployed as a left wing-back but appears to have been given a more advanced role this afternoon, joining up with Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christian Benteke in the attack.

Mamadou Sakho earns his first league start for the club since joining permanently over the summer, with Patrick van Aanholt also earning a recall to the back four alongside Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Scott Dann.

Luka Milivojevic is also back in the starting XI, coming into the midfield alongside Yohan Cabaye and Andros Townsend.

Joel Ward, Jason Puncheon and James McArthur all drop down to the bench.

Manchester City: Ederson; Walker, Stones, Otamendi, Mendy; Fernandinho; De Bruyne, Silva, Sterling; Sane, Aguero
