David Silva is rested for Man City's Premier League tie with Newcastle at the Etihad Stadium this afternoon.

Roberto Mancini has left David Silva on the bench for Manchester City's Premier League tie with Newcastle this afternoon.

It appears that the Spaniard is being rested for City's crunch Champions League clash with Napoli on Tuesday, with Samir Nasri taking his place in today's lineup.

Mario Balotelli partners Sergio Aguero up front and captain Vincent Kompany returns after suspension, with Edin Dzeko named alongside Silva on the bench.

Alan Pardew hands starts to Hatem Ben Arfa and Sammy Ameobi who come in for Sylvain Marveaux and Leon Best, who are not named in the squad.
