Barcelona have reportedly responded to Manchester City's approach for Frenkie de Jong, stating that Bernardo Silva is to be part of an exchange deal.
Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move for De Jong, but rivals and Premier League champions Man City may have an asset in their hands that persuades Barca to sell the Dutch international to Pep Guardiola's side.
Silva has been a key figure for Man City this season, scoring 13 goals and providing seven assists in 49 appearances across all competitions, but he could be heading for an exit from the Etihad.
According to The Mirror, Man City have approached Xavi's side with interest in signing De Jong, but the Spanish giants would only accept a deal if Silva moves in the opposite direction.
With the situation for Barcelona looking likely that they will sell De Jong, Xavi wants a replacement lined up to fill his midfield options, with AC Milan's Franck Kessie also on their target list.
In total, Silva has registered 48 goals and 51 assists in 251 appearances for City, winning 11 trophies along the way.
