Barcelona to target Manchester City's David Silva?

David Silva is identified as a key target by Barcelona as they look to replace Xavi, according to a report.

Barcelona are looking at signing Manchester City midfielder David Silva this summer to replace veteran playmaker Xavi, according to a report.

The Sunday People claims that that the ex-Valencia star is on the list of candidates identified by 'senior officials' at the Catalan club as they look for a successor to the 34-year-old player, and the City winger is said to be their favoured option.

Xavi, who has been widely linked with big-money moves to both the USA and China, is reportedly seen by Barca's hierachy as being less effective this campaign compared with previous seasons.

The midfielder, who has won the Champions League with Barcelona on three occasions, has played more than 700 games for the club.
