Gareth Barry: 'I could stay at Everton longer'

Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry suggests that he could stay at Everton on a permanent basis after the end of the season.

Gareth Barry has refused to rule out the possibility of him signing a permanent contract with Everton.

The midfielder joined the Toffees on a season-long loan deal from Manchester City yesterday evening.

However, with his deal at the Etihad Stadium due to expire next summer, the 32-year-old has hinted that he would be prepared to extend his stay at Goodison Park beyond the 2013-14 campaign.

"Obviously that will happen if I can produce good performances this season, stay fit and put a good run of games together. That is all down to me impressing the club, so I don't see why that can't happen," he told reporters.

As well as Barry, Everton also signed James McCarthy and Romelu Lukaku on deadline day.
