Bayern Munich are reportedly making progress in their bid to sign Manchester City right-back Kyle Walker.

Bayern Munich have reportedly made progress in their pursuit of Manchester City right-back Kyle Walker.

The England international recently helped Man City win the treble, but his time with the club could be coming towards an end.

Walker saw his place in the side come under threat from the likes of Rico Lewis, John Stones and Manuel Akanji during the 2022-23 campaign.

Stone was preferred for the Champions League final win over Inter Milan, with Walker having to settle for a late substitute appearance.

Walker, who has 12 months left on his Man City contract, is keen to play regularly ahead of Euro 2024, and he is seemingly closing on a summer exit.

A recent report claimed that Bayern Munich were in talks with Man City over a potential transfer for the 33-year-old.

According to journalist Florian Plettenburg, discussions between Bayern and Man City have now reached an advanced stage.

The two clubs are yet to reach an agreement, but all of the relevant parties are confident that a deal can be finalised.

Walker wants to join the German champions after being convinced by Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel, who is preparing for his first full season in charge of the club.

Bayern are looking to strengthen the right side of their defence after deciding against converting Joao Cancelo's loan move from Man City into a permanent transfer.

There has also been speculation linking France international Benjamin Pavard with a move away from the Allianz Arena.

Sheffield United were interested in bringing Walker back to his hometown club, but moving to Bayern would allow the defender to remain in the Champions League.

Since joining Man City from Tottenham Hotspur in 2017, Walker has gone on to make 254 appearances, contributing six goals and 18 assists.

Walker is currently away on international duty with England, and he was an unused substitute for Friday's 4-0 win over Malta in Euro 2024 qualifying.
