Manchester City are reportedly mulling over whether to part ways with midfielders Matheus Nunes and Kalvin Phillips during the summer transfer window.

Manchester City are reportedly prepared to offload two senior players during the next summer transfer window.

The Citizens are enduring a difficult run of results as the harsh winter months continue, suffering defeat at the home of Juventus in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Following a goalless first period, strikes from Dusan Vlahovic and Weston McKennie got the job done for the hosts, leaving Man City languishing in 22nd place in the 36-team rankings.

Focusing on domestic matters, Pep Guardiola's side are currently occupying fifth place in the Premier League standings, nine points behind pacesetters Liverpool.

All is not well on the blue side of Manchester ahead of a clash with local rivals Manchester United in the top flight at the Etihad on Sunday afternoon.

Man City set to sell first-team pair?

According to GiveMeSport, Manchester City will potentially wave goodbye to a pair of first-team players during the upcoming summer window.

The first of the duo is Matheus Nunes, who has struggled to cement a spot in the preferred XI of Guardiola since making a high-profile move from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Despite a host of injury issues for his side this season, the Portuguese midfielder has only started five Premier League contests for the English champions in 2024-25.

As well as Nunes, it is understood that Man City are considering the permanent sale of former England international Kalvin Phillips in 2025.

The combative midfielder is spending the 2024-25 campaign on loan at newly-promoted Ipswich Town, who are fighting hard to avoid an immediate return to the Championship.

Back home or Portman Road for Phillips?

Following his transfer to Manchester City in the summer of 2022, Phillips has made just 31 competitive appearances for the club, scoring once.

It is clear that the 29-year-old needs to cut ties with the Citizens in order to get his career back on track, so perhaps a permanent switch to Ipswich could make sense.

That being said, Phillips has hardly set the world alight at Portman Road, and it is unclear whether the Tractor Boys are in need of his continued services.

Speaking sentimentally, it would be fitting to see the 31-time international back at Elland Road, where he was so successful for Leeds United.
