Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta has revealed that the Italian champions have opened talks with Lautaro Martinez over a potential new contract at San Siro.
The 23-year-old was in impressive form for Inter during the 2020-21 campaign, scoring 19 times and registering 11 assists in 48 appearances in all competitions.
Martinez's contract is due to expire in June 2023, though, and a number of clubs, including Barcelona and Manchester City, continue to be credited with an interest in his services.
Marotta has confirmed that contract talks with the Argentina international are underway, with Inter not prepared to sell him in the current market despite their financial problems.
"We want to keep Lautaro and we've opened talks to extend his contract," Marotta told Sky Italia.
Martinez has found the back of the net on 49 occasions in 132 appearances for Inter since joining the Milan giants from Racing Club in July 2018.
