Sevilla defender Jules Kounde has acknowledged that he was interested in joining Manchester City jduring the summer transfer window.
After helping the Spanish side win the Europa League in his first season at the club, the centre-back inevitably emerged as a target for bigger teams.
Although the Frenchman has previously spoken about speculation regarding City, the 22-year-old has reiterated that he was happy to remain in Seville.
However, Kounde has now revealed that he would have welcomed the opportunity to move to City after a conversation with manager Pep Guardiola.
Speaking to Canal Football Club, he said: "Yes, I spoke with Pep Guardiola. I got it on the phone. We talked in Spanish. It went well.
"I was interested in going there. I had guarantees to play, but that did not happen."
Guardiola instead moved to sign Nathan Ake and Ruben Dias, effectively ending his interest in Kounde.
