Manchester City are reportedly not in the running to sign Barcelona striker David Villa, despite reports linking the Premier League champions with a late swoop.
The North-West outfit were thought to have made an enquiry over the availability of the Spaniard following their decision to let Mario Balotelli leave for AC Milan.
Despite these claims, it is understood that City have no intentions of trying to sign Villa before the end of the transfer window tomorrow, according to Sky Sports News.
The 31-year-old was an original target for Arsenal but Barca are thought to be standing firm on their refusal to sell the striker.
