Manchester City are reportedly planning to hold talks with the agent of Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland in January.
Haaland is a target for a number of European heavyweights after scoring 68 goals in 67 games since joining Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020.
City are among those interested in the Norway international, though they face strong competition from the likes of Real Madrid and bitter rivals Manchester United.
However, The Times claims that the Premier League champions are hopeful that they can persuade Haaland to choose the Etihad Stadium as his next destination.
Pep Guardiola's men are supposedly ready to negotiate terms with Haaland's agent at the start of the new year with a view to making a move in the summer window.
Haaland is under contract with Dortmund until 2024, but a release clause - thought to be in the region of £64m - kicks in from July.
Since the start of 2020, only Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski (86) has scored more goals in all competitions than Haaland among players from Europe's top five leagues.
