Barcelona forward Lionel Messi has reportedly been convinced to join former teammate Cesc Fabregas in making a move to Major League Soccer.
The Argentine spent three years playing alongside Fabregas at the Catalan club between 2011 and 2014 and the two remain good friends.
Messi is out of contract at Camp Nou this summer and has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester City or Paris Saint-Germain.
However, Spanish journalist Guillem Balague believes that there is a possibility the 33-year-old could be persuaded to move to the MLS, especially if Fabregas were to join him.
Balague states that the wives of both Messi and Fabregas are close friends with each other, and they have both tried to convince their partners to move to America.
Fabregas, 33, has a contract with Ligue 1 outfit Monaco that runs until 2022, but the former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder has ambitions of playing in the MLS and would welcome a reunion with Messi.
The six-time Ballon d'Or winner tried to leave Camp Nou last summer, however Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman has not given up trying to convince the club legend to stay beyond this campaign.
