Nicolas Otamendi to join Valencia in summer

Porto confirm that Nicolas Otamendi will become a Valencia player in the summer after the two clubs agreed a deal.

Porto have confirmed that defender Nicolas Otamendi will join Valencia for a fee believed to be close to £10m.

Otamendi was a reported target for Manchester City in the January transfer window but a move failed to materialise and the 25-year-old will now begin his La Liga career next season.

"After playing for a club like Porto - a huge, prestigious club - it is an honour to join a club like Valencia CF for this next stage of my career," Otamendi told Valencia's official website.

"Valencia CF are one of the most historic and attractive teams in Spain and in Europe, and I am very happy with this next step in my footballing life."

Otamendi has earned 16 caps for Argentina and is expected to be named in their World Cup squad in the summer.
